Comparison of V.D.R.L. and T.P.H.A. in sero-diagnosis for syphilis

Abstract
|
|
|
Treponema pallidum Hemoagglutination test which uses the Nichols strain of T.pallidurn as antigen was introduced by Rathlev in 1965.
And recently this method was modified more conveniently in method and all materials for it were also commercialized.
So there is possibility to do this TPHA test at laboratory and even private clinics. Besides previous few reports studies about this pointed out that the sensitivity and specificity of this method were almost similar as Fluorescent Treponemal Antibody test´s.
This paper just introduce the method and comparision of sensitivity between TPHA and VDRL. .
The details of method is demonstrated in photo c.
The subjects of experiment and result are as follows:
1. Subjects:
a) First group: 50 patients suspected as syphilis with only clinical manifestation.
b) Second group: 20 patients, those are positive in VDRL test without any clinical
symptom or sign when they had the routine physical check.
2. Result: see table 1 and 2
This report is- the preliminary one, so more details about the sensitivity and specificity of TPHA will be reported in the following paper.
